Thame Bowls Club Weekly Newsletter No 17
On Sunday 11th August Thame lost convincingly against South Oxford away on a very hot day. The final score was 69 to Thame and 99 to South Oxford. Despite the high difference in the score, we had one winning rink and one draw. The top rink was Terri Blackburn, Jill Brooks and skip Ian Rutherford. Captain Roger Blackburn said ‘The game was played in great spirit and a very friendly group of people who made us very welcome’.
On Wednesday 14th August, the ladies away game at Marlow with 3 Triples, ended with a loss of 40 - 56. The only winning rink with a score 17 - 11 was Philippa Feltham, Jill Brooks and skip Caroline Walker. Captain Jill Brooks said, ‘A very enjoyable afternoon, the weather was very humid with threatening rain clouds, but it stayed dry during play’.
Saturday 17th August saw Thame visit Long Crendon and once again suffered a heavy defeat. The final score was 67 – 105 but Thame had one winning rink played by Bill Slade, Mike Ralls and skip Roger Blackburn who was also Captain for the day.
