Thame Bowls Club Weekly News Report No 8
Thame played a friendly game at Bicester, on Saturday 8th June, in glorious sunshine with Gordon Taylor as Captain. The match was nip and tuck throughout the afternoon, but Thame ran out eventual winners by 84 shots to 78. The highest winning rink was played by Tony Battaglia, Chris Trainer and skip Ray Plested closely followed by Jenny Reed, Mike Ralls and skip Sharon Heafey.
On Tuesday 11th June, Thame put out a strong team against Waddesdon and non-playing Captain Colin French wasn’t disappointed with a good win by 59 shots to 57.
They won overall thanks mainly to John Hurley and his team of Tony Battaglia and Gini Williams who won 21 - 9. Unfortunately, the monsoon downpour just before 3pm followed by very cold northerlies, dampened the experience and many were glad to come in.
The ladies played a home game, in warm and sunny weather, against Princes Risborough (who could only field 2 triples) on Wednesday 12th June. Thame lost the match with Princes Risborough winning overall by 9 shots. Thame had a draw on one rink which consisted of Barbara Waters, Pauline Holmes and skip Deirdre Page.
