Thame Bowls Club Weekly News Report No 11
On Saturday 29th June, having been level at the tea break at High Wycombe, Thame subsided afterwards and lost by 94 shots to 67. We won on two of the five rinks but had significant losses on two of the remaining rinks. Our best winning rink was Val Sawyer, Deirdre Page and Bill Giles - of course! Captain Gordon Taylor is now off on a well-deserved holiday.
We had a very enjoyable game against familiar friends from City & County on Sunday 30th June. We lost 65-92, but we had one winning rink, Norman Hyde, Jan Sargeant & Alfred Jochum. The team was captained by Chris Shannon who was able to postpone his duties of Honorary Secretary and Green keeper for the afternoon.
The ladies of Thame had a win on all rinks away at Watlington on Tuesday 2nd July with an overall score of 53 - 38. The winning rink of 17 - 9 was Jenny Reed, Barbara Waters and skip Deirdre Page. Captain Jill Brooks said, ‘Well done ladies an excellent result!’
